Hey hey hey. We are finally at the Final Part of our Mental
Mobility blog. Once again, thank you all for the feedback, comments and shares.
If you have not read Part 1 and Part 2
please go back and check them out.
Here are our final two definitions for the term Mental
Mobility.
The ability to
connect the dots between seemingly unrelated fields of study.
Too often we look at a problem in math, science, life,
fitness, etc. and we never connect the dots between one problem and the other.
I have notice through my studies of self-help, consciousness, mindfulness,
fitness, movement, NLP and much more that there are very clear similarities if you’re
willing to pay attention. To the
untrained eye these fields may seem like they have nothing to do with each
other but those that possess Mental Mobility can relate the fields together and
use them as an analogy to help create understanding.
For example I have a client who is a financial planner. I will use his understanding of saving money
and using compound interest as a way to explain why doing soft tissue and
mobility work now in life will help his movement and quality of life when he
gets older. Two fields that seem unrelated
but if you have Mental Mobility you will be able to draw the parallels. I’m sure many of you out there do this all
the time with your clientele.
The ability to see
opportunity in adversity
I saved this one for last because it is the most powerful
and impactful. We are all going to FAIL.
Lord knows I have had so many ideas flop that I have stopped counting. People
are always going to tell us things are not possible. People are always going to
tell you to take the safest road possible. People are going to say you are
crazy. It’s just in their nature to want to protect you from hard times.
However, it’s my belief that we are here to create experiences. We are here to
tell our stories so that others may be inspired to live their experiences. We
are here to push what’s impossible and make it possible. For people who share this belief they must
possess Mental Mobility.
Hard times are going to come but you must be able to see the
opportunity in it. The following are
some hard times and how to see opportunity in them. (Some of this is personal experience)
Adversity
|
Opportunity
|
No money to start a business and no banks willing to give you a loan.
|
F them all. Take a credit card and do it on your own. Years of debt
are worth a lifetime of memories
|
No one giving you a platform to speak
|
Create your own speaking events.
Be so good that they can’t ignore you
|
No money for extra college schooling
|
Attend Barnes and Noble University. All the same books are available
to you. Educate yourself
|
No clients coming in to see you
|
Create your own youtube channel and make yourself the expert at something
|
Don’t know how to develop software or use technology
|
Network your butt off and meet someone who can help you create your
product
|
Can’t find good employees
|
Create a mentor program to educate and mold your students into a
person worth hiring
|
These are just a few examples. I’m sure many of you have a
ton you could add to this list. I hope you have enjoyed our 3 part blog on
Mental Mobility. This term / idea came to me one day while working out. Like most ideas I shoved it to the side and didn’t
think about it again. I thought, why me, why would any listen to this, why
would anyone care. But then I remembered all the ideas I have had that I kept
to myself only to see someone else put it out.
It’s because of this that I am getting into the habit of making my ideas
public. It’s a blessing that we have all
these media outlets to share our ideas with others. You never know who you can help or how you
can impact someone’s life by the information you share. Most people would charge for things like this,
but I’m a firm believer that if you help as many other people get what they
need you will have what you want.
Thanks for reading. If this has helped in anyway please
like, share, comment, etc.
